Whether you are in Rome on a business trip or on a holiday, at the end of the day you may want to relax. In this section we present some options, all within walking distance from the guesthouse, that may allow you to take this break you deserve!
SHOPPING
Via Cola di Rienzo, a crucial point of Roman shopping, is at a 3 minute walking distance (250 meters) from the guesthouse. There are shops of all kinds, from franchising to local bookstalls, from popular shops to small boutiques. And then, if you want to walk a little further, our advice is to reach the most renown shopping streets such as Via Condotti, Via del Corso, Via di Ripetta, Via del Babuino and Via Frattina that are about one and a half kilometers from the guesthouse (roughly a 20 minute walk away). If you are particularly interested in boutiques or vintage shops we recommend that you cross Ponte Sant’Angelo and walk along Via del Governo Vecchio. From there our advice is to keep off the main roads and lose yourself in the narrow alleys of the historic center (Via del Pellegrino, the streets around Campo de Fiori and the Jewish Ghetto) where you may find interesting handicraft shops that offer a variety of articles, ranging from clothing to antiques to …
WELLNESS
Would you like to do some jogging? Our advice is to go early in the morning (to avoid the excess air pollution from the cars and trucks that increase during the day), and jog along the cycle lane. You can also access the Tiber via the stairways near the bridges. Down the stairs from Castel Sant’Angelo bridge you can jog toward Tiber island, where there is a very impressive view of Rome. The cycle lane continues up to Porta Portese, under the rail tracks and by the Industria bridge and reaches as far South as the EUR neighborhood. If you decide to go in the opposite direction – northbound from Castel Sant’Angelo – you will get to the Foro Italico and then to Ponte Milvio. If you cross the Ponte Milvio bridge and leave the cycle lane, you can find your way to the Renzo Piano Auditorium (http://www.auditorium.com/), which is worth a visit.
If you are an indoor person, we recommend a daily entrance to the KbGym (http://www.kbgym.it/, anche nella versione italiana) which is located three minutes away from the Guesthouse. In the 200 sqm basement there is a fully equipped gym where you can train on your own or take a lesson. Various lessons are scheduled throughout the day, we suggest you to visit their website for further information.
If you simply wish to pamper yourself and relax, here is the link to the nearest massage center, Baan Thai (http://www.baanthai.it/) which is 8 minutes away from the guesthouse and offers Thai or Ayurvedic massages and Shiatsu treatments.
MUSIC
For classical music lovers, we suggest you to check the schedule of concerts at the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia (http://www.santacecilia.it/) , one of the oldest musical institutions in the world, which is only a five minute walk away from the Guesthouse. If you like jazz, you should stopover at Fonclea (http://www.fonclea.it/sitofonclea/index.html), that for more than twenty five years it has been the showcase for many debuting artists. This club is only a four minute walk from the Guesthouse. If, however, you prefer to move away from the neighborhood we recommend, of course, the Auditorium Parco della Musica (http://www.auditorium.com/). There you will be able to, not only admire the architectural work of Renzo Piano, but also “live” it, since their rich program of music, of all genres, and their exhibitions of art and photography, literature and dance or film premiers, will surely make it a pleasant visit.
